Cancer survivor Nancy Thorne Cahill and her husband, Mike Cahill, threw the 16th annual Be the Cure event in Mt. Horeb to support melanoma and breast cancer research. They have raised over $300,000 since its inception. Thanks to Drs. Mark Albertini, Amy Fowler, Lisa Arendt and Cindy Zuleger for coming out, along with Senior Director of Development Janie Winston.
The Carbone Ribbon Room is a specialty charitable guest room at the Hilton Madison Monona Terrace in Madison, where $25 from every overnight stay is donated directly to the UW Carbone Cancer Center to fund cancer research. Spread the word! Senior Director of Development, Janie Winston along with Kodee Zarnke, Assistant Director of Medical Community Fundraising, accept this year’s annual donation, totaling $6,575, from Director of Sales and Marketing Keola Shimooka.
In May 2026, Purple Rumble’s 4th Annual Spring UTV Poker Run in memory of Judy Stary raised $5,515. The event benefits pancreatic cancer research at UW Carbone.
In June 2026, the Steel Curtain Open held their 13th annual event in memory of Dennis Swatek who passed away in 2012 from Non-Hodgkins Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma. The event raised dollars in support of CTCL research! Shout out to Dr. Jeanette Comstock for providing a research update for the family to share during the event.
In June 2026, Lift Consulting hosted their annual golf event in memory of Gene Pletzer. The event raised $20,000 in support of pancreatic cancer research!
