We at UW Carbone Cancer Center, as well as friends and colleagues across the UW campus and Madison community, mourn the loss of Dr. Stephanie J. (Mondloch) Davis, who passed away on June 6, 2024.
Steph was a Client Based Research 1 at UW Carbone, focused on translational cancer research and developing cutting-edge molecular biology techniques and informatics systems for large data handling. She was a hard-working and compassionate member of the team who will be dearly missed. Her many brilliant and creative ideas will make a lasting impact on the field of cancer research.
Steph completed her undergraduate and doctoral studies at UW, specializing in biochemistry and nutritional sciences as well as her interest in global health. She was a fluent Spanish speaker, served in AmeriCorps, and was a strong supporter of the Latinx community through her work at 16th Street Clinic, Centro Hispano of Dane County and Roots4Change. She also was a popular volunteer at American Family Children’s Hospital, providing enrichment activities for patients and siblings in the pediatric oncology/hematology unit.
