Science Careers in Oncology REsearch (SCORE)

UW Carbone Cancer Center Summer Undergraduate Science Careers in Oncology REsearch (SCORE), is an opportunity granted through the American Cancer Society. The internship provides an authentic hands-on basic, translational or population science experience in cancer research. The goal of the SCORE internship is to engage undergraduates in cancer-related science and health professions to ensure the next generation of cancer researchers. In addition, SCORE provides career development training and activities to help students prepare for a successful science career.

SCORE is a 10-week summer, paid, cancer-focused, hands-on, mentored research experience. The SCORE program incorporates scientific enrichment and networking activities during the summer and integrates career development activities to facilitate a wide variety of experiences in cancer research. Additionally, during the academic year, there will be comprehensive monthly engagements to build a foundation for career advancements tailored to undergraduate needs and aligned with a rigorous research curriculum.
