Cancer Research Opportunities

The Wisconsin Undergraduate Clinical Research Internship (WUCRI) is a program developed to cultivate the next generation of cancer discovery scholars and clinicians.  A primary goal of the program is to support , mentor, and transform undergraduate students into a career in oncology clinical research, with a comprehensive introduction into the breadth and application of clinical trials and cancer patients. Each participant will have a mentor and an experienced preceptor from UW Carbone’s clinical research enterprise to help them navigate this program.

This internship training program selects highly qualified undergraduate students and provides experience in:

Protocol Opening | Study Execution | Study Coordination | Patient Enrollment | Study Management
Clinical Research Regulatory | Clinical Research Informatics | Quality Assurance

What is Clinical Research?

A type of research study that tests how well new medical approaches work in people. These studies test new methods of screening, prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of a disease.

Program Information

Requirements 

Full or part-time student

Completed one of the following:
36 credit hours Associate Degree
Sophomore year at a 4-year college
54 credits of a bachelor’s degree

• Time commitment: 6-15 hours per week – 2/3
days per week

•Interest in the medical field, clinical research
field and working within a team environment

• Salary: $19.00 per/hr.

2. Statement of Interest (1-2 pages) which includes:
       * Tell us about your interest in this opportunity
       * Your future career goals
       * Year in school
       * Your availability for the summer
3. Proof of enrollment. This can be one of the following:
       * A schedule of classes with the term listed
       * A letter of acceptance
       * A current grade report with school information and dates

All must include the school logo and/or school information.
