Weiping Tang, PhD, Janis Apinis Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the School of Pharmacy
Dr. Tang, PhD, received his PhD in Chemistry from Stanford University and had postdoc training in Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Biology, and Drug Discovery at Harvard University and Broad Institute. He Joined the faculty of UW-Madison since 2007 and serves as the Director of the Medicinal Chemistry Center. His research interests include drug discovery research with a focus on the development of anti-cancer, antimicrobial and antiviral therapeutics.
John Feltenberger, PhD
Dr. Feltenberger, PhD received his BS in Chemistry from Ohio University and his PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin. As the Assistant Director of the Medicinal Chemistry Center in the School of Pharmacy he engages with biomedical researchers through the design and synthesis of novel small molecule therapeutics, ultimately driving translational drug discovery and development efforts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Irene Ong, PhD
Irene Ong, PhD is an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology with a joint appointment in Biostatistics and Medical Informatics and the Associate Director of the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center’s Cancer Informatics Shared Resource.

Mark Burkard, MD, PhD
Mark Burkard, MD, PhD is a faculty member in the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care within the Department of Medicine. He is the associate director of Genomics and Precision Medicine within the UW Carbone Cancer Center. He serves as a co-leader of the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center Basket Cancer disease-oriented team and as the chair of the UW Carbone Cancer Center/WON Precision Medicine Molecular Tumor Board. As a medical oncologist he specializes in breast cancer treatment and is an expert in genomic instability and precision oncology.
Nataliya Uboha, MD, PhD
Nataliya Uboha, MD, PhD is a faculty member in the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology, and Palliative Care within the Department of Medicine. She serves as co-leader of the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center Basket Cancer disease-oriented team and is co-director of Wisconsin Oncology Network, which is a regional network of cancer clinics that aligns community and academic health centers to bring novel cancer treatments to patients in the community. Dr. Uboha’s clinical interests include gastrointestinal cancers, with a particular emphasis on hepatobiliary and gastroesophageal cancers.
Dustin Deming, MD
Dustin Deming, MD is a faculty member in the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care. He serves as Clinical Co-Chair of the UW Carbone Cancer Center (UW CCC) Molecular Tumor Board, as Director and Founder of the UW CCC Colorectal and Anal Cancer Working Group (CRAWG). As a physician-scientist, Dr. Deming’s research program focuses on developing precision medicine treatments for different subtypes of colon cancer.

Kristen Malecki, PhD
Kristen Malecki, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Population Health Sciences. She has a PhD in Environmental Epidemiology and Health Policy and Masters of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Malecki serves as the director for the Survey of the Health of Wisconsin (SHOW), overseeing survey implementation efforts and ancillary study development involving community-academic partnerships. Her transdisciplinary work includes identification of biomarkers of expression and response using epigenetics and transcriptomics.

Shuang George Zhao, MD
Dr. Zhao, MD, received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science & engineering at the University of Michigan. He also attended Medical School and completed Residency training in Radiation Oncology at the University of Michigan. He recently joined the faculty at the University of Wisconsin as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Oncology. His laboratory utilizes next-gen sequencing and computational techniques to develop biomarkers of treatment response and resistance, primarily in prostate cancer. He also co-direct the UWCCC Circulating Biomarker Core with Dr. Josh Lang and Kaitlin Sundling.
