James Shull
Position title: Associate Director of Shared Resources
Dr. Shull has been a UWCCC leader since his recruitment in 2009. Dr. Shull’s prior role as Associate Director of Basic Sciences included shared services as a smaller component of responsibility. In response to growing basic science and shared resource needs, Drs. Bailey and Shull chose to reconstitute his role as a new position of Associate Director of Shared Resources. Dr. Shull directly oversees all UWCCC Shared Resources, Developmental Cores, and other research services. He chairs the Shared Resources Committee (all SR leaders/managers) which meets monthly to review/coordinate research services across the Center and collaborates directly with the Vice Chancellor of Research and Graduate Education office’s (VCRGE) new Office of Campus Research Cores. Dr. Shull’s scientific knowledge and national stature are critical to guiding UWCCC research. He is the Centennial Professor and Emeritus Chairman for the Department of Oncology at the UW-SMPH and is an independently funded (R01CA204320) researcher focused on cancer genetics, hormones, and breast cancer.
