Community Outreach and Engagement

Our goal is to reduce the burden of cancer and cancer health disparities through impactful population science research integrated with community outreach and engagement across Wisconsin spanning prevention to the end of life.

We envision conducting the research and community outreach and engagement essential for defeating cancer and achieving health equity across Wisconsin and around the world.

Our Programs

UW Carbone’s Breast Cancer Research Advisory Network connects breast cancer survivors and advocates to researchers to offer survivor perspective and input on grant applications, clinical trial proposals, and other projects.

UW Carbone has a long and unique history of community outreach and engagement ranging from the Wisconsin Cancer Council, a statewide approach to cancer control, to faculty and staff conducting engaging research that incorporates the talents and interests of the people of Wisconsin.

UW Carbone Community Advocacy Board is a coalition dedicated to creating a foundation of bidirectional communication between community members and UW Carbone to identify and prioritize cancer research needs across Wisconsin.

Division of Extension Partnership

The UW Carbone is thrilled to partner with the Division of Extension to build infrastructure (people, processes, systems, tools) that researchers and basic scientists can leverage to connect with and learn from the communities of Wisconsin while expanding cancer outreach efforts with Extension Community Health Educators in every corner of the state.

The Pancreas Cancer Task Force is a group of skilled and dedicated community volunteers who have personally been affected by pancreas cancer. In a unique collaboration with the UW Carbone Cancer Center, Task Force members work in close concert with doctors, nurses and researchers to change the future of pancreas cancer.

UW Carbone is home to the Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative. The Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative is a statewide coalition of approximately 150 organizations working together to reduce the burden of cancer for everyone in Wisconsin. The Collaborative works to develop, implement and promote a statewide approach to cancer control via a State Cancer Plan.
