radiotherapy modeling, optimization, and device development with clinical research projects in photon radiotherapy treatments involving adaptive therapy, image processing and deformable registration, stereotactic radiosurgery, and treatment of ventricular tachycardia.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicine.wisc.edu\/apcc\/sandbo-research\">Nathan Sandbo, MD<\/a> \u2013 TM<br \/>\nDepartment: Medicine &#8211; Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine<br \/>\nResearch Interest: Understanding the mechanisms involved in the development of pulmonary fibrosis and developing treatments with one focus being the hexosamine biosynthetic pathway, a nutrient sensing pathway that is upregulated when the body has a need for metabolic reprogramming.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/radiology.wisc.edu\/profile\/erica-knavel-koepsel-798\/\">Erica Knavel Koepsel, MD<\/a> \u2013 IR<br \/>\nDepartment: Radiology<br \/>\nResearch Interest: Thermal and non-thermal techniques for tumor destruction. Pre-clinical studies of histotripsy, prostate cryoablation impacting cancer-related care, and palliative therapies for cancer patients. Strong interest in partnering with cancer center for clinical trials and prospective protocols for new and innovative treatments.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/radiology.wisc.edu\/profile\/matthew-niemeyer-2730\/\">Matthew Niemeyer, MD<\/a> \u2013 IR<br \/>\nDepartment: Radiology<br \/>\nResearch Interest: Improving outcomes for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and primary metastatic lung cancer. Using translational large animal cancer models, specifically the Oncopig cancer model, to improve delivery, dosimetry, and efficacy\/safety of transarterial Yttrium-90 for treatment of lung and liver cancer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/genetics.wisc.edu\/staff\/skop-ahna\/\">Ahna Skop, PhD<\/a> \u2013 CPC<br \/>\nDepartment: Genetics<br \/>\nResearch Interest: Biology and clinical potential of mid body remnants (MBRs) \u2013 a unique class of translation- competent extracellular vesicles with emerging significance in cancer development and progression. Translational pipeline leverages omics, imaging, and bioinformatic approaches to characterize MBRs and identify novel biomarkers for cancer detection and risk stratification.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ophth.wisc.edu\/blog\/staff\/crabtree-gordon\/\">Gordon Crabtree, MD<\/a> \u2013 DT<br \/>\nDepartment: Ophthalmology and Visual Science<br \/>\nResearch Interest: Age-related macular degeneration (both dry and wet), diabetic macular edema, non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, symptomatic vitreous opacities, retinal detachment, choroidal tumors, and choroidal melanoma.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/apps.pharmacy.wisc.edu\/sopdir\/nicholas_kalogriopoulos\/\">Nicholas Kalogriopoulos, PhD<\/a> \u2013 DT<br \/>\nDepartment: Pharmaceutical Sciences Division<br \/>\nResearch Interest: Develop innovative therapeutic strategies for cancer, operating at the interface of protein engineering, chemical biology, and pharmacology, aiming to apply GPCR pharmacology to develop new cancer immunotherapies.
