Digital accessibility is the practice of making digital materials (including word docs, slideshows, PDFs, videos and photos), emails, and web content accessible for all users to access, understand, and navigate. This affects not only materials made for public viewing, but also <strong>materials you make and share internally<\/strong> with coworkers, colleagues and students, as well as materials shared from third party sources (such as journal PDFs, grant RRPs, or YouTube).<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/it.wisc.edu\/university-digital-accessibility-initiative\/\">University Digital Accessibility Initiative (UDAI)<\/a> is coordinating campus-wide efforts, focusing on sustainable infrastructure, culture change, and long\u2011term compliance. Accessibility compliance is a responsibility for <strong>every employee<\/strong> when creating their materials. UW&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalaccessibility.wisc.edu\">Digital Accessibility Hub<\/a> is a central resource for the latest guidance, training, and tips, including tools to scan your materials for accessibility issues and how to resolve those.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Materials that need to be made accessible include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Text\/design documents, such as Microsoft Word docs, PDFs, slideshows, InDesign<\/li>\n<li>Email<\/li>\n<li>Images and videos<\/li>\n<li>Websites\/apps<\/li>\n<li>KnowledgeBase documents<\/li>\n<li>Virtual meetings\/events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What you should do:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check out <a href=\"https:\/\/it.wisc.edu\/learn\/make-it-accessible\/fundamentals\/\">digital accessibility fundamentals<\/a>, and ensure all of your newly-created content follows requirements.
