Carbone’s Race for Research
June 15 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
Run/Walk to benefit adult and pediatric cancer research.
Race for Research started in 2011 as an event called “Walk Away From Cancer”. Over 200 participants came out to show their support for the UW Carbone Cancer Center, with a unified goal: leave cancer in the dust! We raised over $17,500 and knew we could not stop there.
In 2012, we decided to change things up. Recognizing the urgent need for funds for new research, we renamed the event Race for Research and added the 5K component. From there, the rest is history.
This past year, we had a record-breaking year with over 1,500 community members joining us for a beautiful morning on the UW Lakeshore Campus. We were honored to be able to offer our fundraisers the opportunity to direct their efforts towards the cancer research fund of their choice at UW Carbone. Thanks to them, we were able to raise over $185,000 for innovative cancer research here in Madison!
We are excited to announce that for 2019, we have partnered with the American Family Insurance Championship to bring UW Carbone’s Race for Research to their lineup of events in June! Participants will run and walk on the beautiful Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Verona, WI.
Come out and race with us on Saturday, June 15 for another memorable and successful year!
