Invitation to our Industry Partners to Participate in BadgerConnect 2023
The BadgerConnect Research Services Fair is back, though at a different location this year, the UW Biotechnology Center in the heart of the UW-Madison Campus! This event highlights life science research services and cutting-edge technologies that make researchers successful. Attendees from across campus network with research services and their industry partners during networking intervals and a reception, workshops, and an invited research talk and panel discussion. Mark your calendars for October 26, 2023 from 11:30am-4:30pm for a variety of exciting presentations and a networking reception with numerous life science research services – all aimed at taking research to the next level. This year’s event will again be in-person, but with multiple pre-recorded core flashtalks/tutorials released leading up to October 26.
Hosted by UW Carbone, the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, and the UW Biotechnology Center.

Background & Goals
We are gearing up for the sixth BadgerConnect Research Services Fair, to be held October 26, 2023, from 11:30am -4:30pm at the University of Wisconsin–Madison Biotechnology Center Atrium (note the new location this year!) in Madison, WI. This unique event is being organized by the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) and the University of Wisconsin Biotechnology Center (UWBC). The UWCCC is Wisconsin’s only comprehensive cancer center recognized throughout the Midwest and the nation as one of the leading innovators in cancer research, quality patient care, and active community involvement. The UWBC is Wisconsin’s catalyst to advance biotechnology research, education and industry for the benefit of society and the environment. The UWCCC boasts a wide range of research services, as does the UWBC, which are part of a vast network of research services across the UW campus, most of which are available to all UW and external researchers. These researchers critically depend on the marriage between cutting-edge technology from our industry partners and our exceptional research services to answer their research questions.
We are diligently working on advertising the BadgerConnect Research Services Fair by sending out departmental email invitations, strategically posting flyers, and distributing links to the event website. In addition to staff from ~20 research services, we expect to bring together over 200 academics, including students, graduate students, investigators, research staff, and industry representatives from across campus, covering a broad range of science applications. We seek your much-appreciated sponsorship to make this a successful event.
Agenda & Networking Opportunities
We have allocated generous time for our industry partners and research services to engage with researchers through multiple networking intervals as well as the reception capping the event. Additional information about the fair can be found on the BadgerConnect homepage, which we will be updating regularly as we finalize all of our participating research services and industry partners.
Sponsorship Opportunities
As an extra incentive to increase turnout, we are providing food and refreshments at no cost to attendees. As such, this event depends on the generous support of sponsorship. Sponsorship opportunities at the BadgerConnect Research Services Fair yield considerable benefits to both academic labs and industry alike.
Our sponsorship opportunities this year include the following:
Recognition Sponsorship ($100): Industry sponsors will be recognized in the printed program, on the event website, and onscreen in talk rooms / central monitors at the event.
Booth Sponsorship ($400): Industry sponsors receive all the benefits of Recognition Sponsorship plus one booth at the Research Services Fair. Booths will consist of a 4ft table.
Workshop/Talk Sponsorship Add-On (+$200): Industry sponsors may partner with a research service to present a mini-workshop or sponsor an invited research talk/panel discussion. Workshop/Talk Sponsorship will be added on to the Booth Sponsorship. There are a limited number of these sponsorship opportunities available.
Special Sponsorship Add-On (+$200): Industry sponsors will sponsor a specific portion of the event (lunch, alcohol, appetizers, or – new this year – registration table VIP) and will receive an additional table next to the sponsored portion of the event for promotional materials and sponsorship signage. Special Sponsorship will be added on to the Booth Sponsorship. Due to only having four special sponsorship opportunities, these are available on a first come – first served basis.
Please note: We will not be sharing attendees’ contact information with our Industry Partners unless the attendee opted to have their information shared at the time they registered to attend the event. However, Industry Partners are welcome to collect attendee contact information at their booths.
